Growing in Knowledge, Faith, and Trust
The second spiral is a transformation of our minds, and a transformation of our knowledge, love, and faith. It this revolution, we come to know God more deeply, and trust in His guidance, and in the Church He formed for us. One of my favorite verses of Scripture comes from St. Paul who said, “Do not conform yourselves to this age, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that you may discern what is the Will of God, what is good and pleasing and perfect.”1
Continual conversion involves continual education. Catholicism is so encompassing that no one person can grasp all it has to offer, but we can have a fervent desire to know our Lord and grow in our faith. An unknown author once said, “[Our] Love of God must be lit and fanned by the knowledge of God, for to know Him is to love Him. The greater our understanding of the beauty of God’s infinite Excellence and Love, the more we will adore Him for Who He is and for the greatness of the gifts” 2 Intellectual stagnation is an enemy of our faith. Greater knowledge produces greater love, greater trust, and a greater awareness of God's infinite Mercy.
